Imposing set consisting of a richly carved architectural frame and simple interior doors, originating from 19th century India. The frame features elaborate vegetal and geometric decoration with great artisanal depth, while the leaves maintain a structural sobriety that contrasts with the exterior ornamental richness.
The carvings, executed by hand, reveal meticulous work typical of local workshops under Anglo-Indian influence. The piece retains its original patina, with wear and marks consistent with its age.
Object history
This architectural set was part of a 19th century Indian residence, in a context marked by the coexistence of local tradition and British colonial presence. The frame, clearly inspired by Indo-Colonial decorative elements, was conceived as a representative feature within the home, while the interior doors served a more practical function.
The passage of time has softened the reliefs and enriched the surface with a deep and authentic patina, adding character and sculptural presence to the set.
