From Sweden there is a pair of Gustavian columns in polychrome wood, carved and gilded torches and torchères, brass and porphyry candlesticks, crystal salon lamps, consoles, a mahogany daybed and 19th-century lacquered stools. From Denmark come Bing & Grøndahl biscuit porcelain after Thorvaldsen, a terracotta self-portrait of Thorvaldsen, ceramics by P. Ipsen and a painting by Valdemar Irminger. The Gustavian style, Sweden’s version of Neoclassicism, is recognisable by its straight lines and pale tones.
