Castilian paneled door crafted in solid oak, dating from the 18th century and originating from the village of Ojos Negros in the province of Teruel.
The piece retains its original frame, richly moulded with carved vegetal motifs along the perimeter, characteristic of 18th-century noble architecture in Aragón.
The door leaf displays a strong and sober geometric panel composition in relief, arranged in a balanced structure that conveys solidity and classical proportion. The surface carries a deep, time-earned patina developed over more than two centuries of use, enhancing its authenticity and visual depth.
The preserved hardware reflects different historical phases of use, today forming part of the door’s narrative.
This is a complete architectural element, structurally sound and visually commanding.
Object history
This door originally belonged to a noble residence in the village of Ojos Negros, Teruel, a region historically shaped by agriculture and mining activity. In the 18th century, affluent families built solid homes where oak doors symbolized permanence, authority, and status.
During the 20th century, the original house was demolished, and the door was reused within the same property, preserving both its leaf and original carved frame. In 2026, it was carefully recovered, maintaining its structural integrity and decorative mouldings.
Today, the piece stands as an authentic testament to 18th-century Aragonese rural noble architecture, preserving its original proportions, materiality, and character.
