Castilian paneled door crafted in solid oak, dating from the 18th century and originating from a noble residence in the village of Ojos Negros, Teruel.
The leaf displays a balanced geometric composition of moulded panels in relief, characteristic of refined domestic architecture in 18th-century Aragón. The design is sober and structured, with a rhythmic arrangement of panels that convey solidity and proportion.
It retains its original frame, clean-lined and architecturally coherent with the rural noble constructions of the region. The surface carries a natural patina developed over more than two centuries, with authentic wear that enhances its depth and character.
Structurally sound, it maintains its full architectural presence.
Object history
This door belonged to a noble residence in the village of Ojos Negros, Teruel. During the 18th century, solid oak was commonly used for interior and secondary doors in affluent rural homes, symbolizing permanence and structural quality.
In the 20th century, the original house was demolished and the doors were reused within the same property, preserving both their leaves and frames. In 2026, they were carefully recovered, maintaining their original structure and historical character.
The piece stands as an authentic testimony to 18th-century Castilian-Aragonese domestic architecture, preserving its original proportions, materials, and craftsmanship.
