Castilian and Andalusian chests, travelling trunks, small caskets and bargueños from the 17th to the 20th century. For centuries the chest was the main piece of furniture in a Spanish home, used to keep linen and a bride’s trousseau; the bargueño, with its drop front and inner drawers, was a writing cabinet that could be moved from house to house. The selection also includes painted 19th-century chests from India. Today they work as coffee tables, benches at the foot of a bed or storage. Each listing gives the wood, dimensions and condition, and the price is set by the dealer, whom you can contact directly from the listing. An estimated shipping cost is shown on every page.
